How to Apply for Your Class 1 Medical

Obtaining a Class 1 Medical Certification is a key requirement on your journey to becoming a commercial pilot in India. This certification confirms that you meet the physical and mental fitness standards required for commercial flying. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you navigate the application process.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure you have completed your Class 2 Medical and have an eGCA account.

Step 1: Accessing the Application

  • Log into your eGCA account, go to the “Issuance of Class 1 Medical” section, and select an appropriate medical centre (either an Air Force Medical Centre or a designated civil hospital).

  • Enter the required personal and medical information.

Step 2: Payment

  • You’ll need to pay a fee of INR 3000 through Bharatkosh.

  • During the application process, you’ll be automatically redirected to complete the payment.

Step 3: Track Your Application

  • Under the “Track Status” page, review your application and complete the mandatory medical declaration.

  • This confirms your submission, allowing the DGCA to process your application.

Step 4: Prepare for Your Medical Appointment

  • Your appointment date will be sent to you via email.

  • Before attending, complete a set of medical tests, including:

    • Blood tests (Hb%, TLC, DLC, Blood Sugar F & PP, HbA1C, LFT)

    • Urine RE/ME

    • ECG (R)

    • Chest X-Ray (PA View)

    • Pure Tone Audiometry

    • USG Abdomen & Pelvis

    • Dilated Fundus Examination

  • Note: Detailed information about the required tests will be provided in the appointment confirmation email.

Step 5: Attend the Medical Examination

  • At the medical centre, your test reports will be reviewed, and further checks such as eye examination, weight, height, and blood pressure will be conducted.

  • The entire process typically takes two days.

Receiving Your Certification

  • After completing the examination, your Class 1 CA35 certificate will appear in eGCA, valid for three months.

  • In the meantime, your one-year medical assessment will also be uploaded.
